Quality Week / Month 2026: 'Quality: Powering Performance' – Driving New Performance with Quality

Quality Week / Month 2026: 'Quality: Powering Performance' – Driving New Performance with Quality

**********

The month of November holds special significance for quality professionals, managers, and organizations around the world. This year, World Quality Week 2026 is being celebrated from November 9th to November 13th, 2026, with World Quality Day celebrated on November 12th, 2026. Additionally, the entire month of November will be celebrated as Quality Month, with various awareness campaigns, workshops, and training sessions.

This year's central theme: "Quality: Powering Performance"

The official global theme set by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and IRCA for this year (2026) is: "Quality: Powering Performance."

This theme highlights that robust quality management systems (QMS, EMS, etc.) are not limited to regulatory compliance or paperwork. On the contrary, they serve as key drivers of any organization's capability, resilience, and strategic growth.

This year's campaign is focused on three key pillars:

1. Performance Drivers: Identifying customer expectations, accurately assessing external and internal contextual risks, and creating a strong and systematic foundation for achieving organizational objectives.
2. Performance Systems: Ensuring clear ownership of processes and results. Integrating teams, modern technologies, supply chains, and partners to eliminate any bottlenecks or waste in operations.

3. Performance Improvement: Adopting a culture of structured, data-driven continuous improvement and innovation, rather than relying on ad-hoc fixes.

Indian Perspective: National Institutions Strengthening Quality Culture

Parallel to this internationally celebrated quality festival, our top institutions in India are playing a key role in spreading the culture of quality and standardization to the public and industry:

  • Quality Council of India (QCI) and NBQP: The Quality Council and the National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP) conduct regional quality conferences, capacity-building workshops, and awareness campaigns across the country. Indian manufacturing and service sectors are being made globally competitive through initiatives such as the 'Zero Defect Zero Effect' (ZED Certification Scheme), especially in the MSME sector.
  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS): BIS is strengthening the foundation of quality across the country through standardization, product certification, and consumer protection. While BIS's major national celebration is World Standards Day in October, its regional offices conduct technical seminars and awareness programs throughout the year.
  • National Centre for Quality Management (NCQM): NCQM 0rganizes various programs from time to time.
  • Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI): QCFI is organizing a webinar on November 12, 2026 (World Quality Day).

What can we do during Quality Week/Month?

As a quality professional, consultant, or trainer, we can make this week meaningful through the following activities:

  • Knowledge sharing: Share insights on modern management standards (such as the latest provisions of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, etc.) through our blog, articles, and social media platforms.
  • Organizing sessions within the organization: Organize small workshops or webinars on continuous improvement and process efficiency for our team or colleagues.
  • Emphasis on sustainability: Promote green practices in the workplace by recognizing the interplay between the environment and quality.
Summary

Quality is not just a standard or a badge, but a lifestyle of continuous excellence. On this Quality Week/Month 2026, let us all ensure our contribution to the economic and business development of the country and society by making quality more effective in our workplaces.

Regards,
Keshav Ram Singhal
